This practice focuses on releasing unnecessary effort —
especially the effort you may not realize you are using.

You are not trying to relax.
You are allowing the body to let go.

30-Second Practice

Stand comfortably.

Notice where you are holding effort —
often in the shoulders, jaw, lower back, or hips.

Without changing posture,
allow one area to soften slightly.

Do not force relaxation.
Just reduce effort by a small amount.

What you may notice

  • A sense of heaviness or settling
  • Easier breathing
  • Subtle warmth or flow

Release often feels ordinary.
Its effects become clearer after you move.

Common mistakes

  • Trying to collapse or go limp
  • Forcing relaxation
  • Losing balance while “letting go”

Release is not collapse.
Structure remains, effort reduces.

Release and axis

Axis provides reference.
Release allows that reference to function.

Practice them separately at first,
then notice how release clarifies axis.

Next step

Once release becomes familiar,
movement can reorganize more easily.
