S08 Direction | S09 Continuity

Direction in this work is not about pushing the body toward a destination.
It is about how intention organizes movement through structure.

When direction is clear,
movement begins without force.

30-Second Practice

Stand comfortably.

Sense your axis and allow unnecessary effort to release.
Let the body feel integrated.

Choose a simple direction — forward, backward, or to the side.
Do not move yet.

First, allow the intention to point the direction.
Notice how the body subtly organizes itself.

Then, let movement follow that organization.
Move minimally for about 30 seconds.

What you may notice

  • Movement starts more easily
  • Less push from the legs or shoulders
  • Clearer sense of path rather than effort

Direction often feels quieter than expected.
Its clarity is revealed by reduced effort, not increased speed.

Common mistakes

  • Pushing the body before direction is clear
  • Using strength to “go somewhere”
  • Confusing speed with direction

Direction is not force applied outward.
It is internal organization expressed in motion.

How direction emerges

Axis provides reference.
Release reduces resistance.
Rotation tests organization.
Integration coordinates the whole.

Direction appears
when intention aligns with structure.

Next step

When direction remains clear through change,
continuity becomes possible.

Video Practice

A short demonstration of this structural element will appear here.

For now, focus on the 30-second practice described above.
